About me, my equipment and my photography
I, Pete Purvis (known more formally as Samuel M. Purvis III), have had a lifelong interest in photography, first using a Baby Brownie (still have it), and since 1954 various film cameras from a Retina IIIc, Nikon SP, Speed Graphic, Olympus 2s, Minoltas and and finally a Hasselblad 500c/m, which I still use. My shift to digital stuck to the Minolta line, and now Sony. For me, photography has been a hobby, although I do sell some images.
Background: Graduate, US Naval Academy and US Navy Test Pilot School plus several years as a Naval Aviator (101 combat missions Vietnam), test flying a variety of airplanes...the Grumman F-14 was the last one...working as a corporate representative in Washington, and then as a writer. My aviation career was highlighted In 2013 when I was elected a Fellow of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots.
Over these career segments, I've lived in at least 25 places in America and finally in 2008, Sally and I settled down in Kennebunk, Maine.
